Raw and Smackdown Live news recap and opinions!

Triple H announced he will put his career on the line against Batista at WrestleMania 35.

Monday Night Raw: The first big news story to come out on Monday was before Raw went on the air, this was the news that Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair's Raw Women's championship match will be the main event of Wrestlemania 35. This news has been rumoured for a long time and was expected but it's great to have finally have had it be announced. This is well deserved with Lynch being the most of superstars in the company for much of 2018 and arguably still is along with Kofi Kingston. Charlotte Flair has been one of the best female wrestlers on the planet for the past few years and deserves the spotlight of this match. Ronda Rousey in my view has overall been impressive in her debut year and now is even more impressive since turning heel with her heel persona suiting her a lot more than her respectful but bland babyface persona. In conclusion, this should be a magnificent main event with three fantastic female wrestlers which will close the show in style.
Another piece of news coming out of this Monday's edition of Raw was Triple H's announcement that he will put his career on the line against Batista at WrestleMania 35. This along with Batista also saying in the last few weeks that this is the last match of his career it could be the last time we see both the iconic wrestlers lace up their boots to wrestle a match. For Triple H it would be the last match of a legendary twenty-four-year long career. This would be a sad sight to see even though the Kings of Kings rarely wrestles anymore; nevertheless, this should be a fantastic match between the two longtime rivals and if this is the last match of both men's careers, I'm sure they will want to make it a memorable one.
The final piece of news I wanted to write about from this week's Raw was the confirmation of an expected match between Roman Reigns and Drew Mcyntire. The Big Dog (As Michael Cole loves to say.) accepted the Scotsman challenge of a match at Wrestlemania 35. This should be a high-quality match between the two big men, and I expect it to be an old fashioned slobber knocker of a match.  I would love to see the Scottish Psychopath win here to give Mcyntire even more legitimacy as this huge main event Heel going over the biggest star of this generation. Saying this though, I can't see Reigns losing on his big return match on the grandest stage of them all, which is fine and will be a feel-good moment for the show.

Charlotte Flair shockingly defeated Asuka to capture another Smackdown Live Women's Championship.

Smackdown Live: The first news story here I have to cover here, is the unbelievable news that Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka to win the Smackdown Women's championship. Well like most fans I'm upset with this news, Asuka's hot and cold booking seems to be continuing on the main roster and for talent as huge as her it is a terrible way to treat her. This gives us tons more questions going into the biggest show of the year. What the hell is Asuka doing there now? There has been no announcement of a women's battle royale so far, so unless one is shoehorned it looks like Asuka will be thrown into a match with someone like Mandy Rose or/and Sonya Deville, or even worse not even be on the card which would be a huge fall from grace. The other questions are what is going on with the Smackdown Women's championship?  Will both titles be defended in a title unification match?  Will it be the champion who gets pinned lose the championship? Whatever happens, it was a poor booking decision in mine and a lot of other fans eyes, but at least it will be interesting to see how WWE answer these big questions in the upcoming week's shows.
The second and final big news story that I am covering from Smackdown this week is a happier one, That the New Day member's Big E and Xavier Woods earned a  deserved WWE championship for Kofi Kingston against Daniel Byran at Wrestlemania after competing in a 5 team gauntlet match which made the two New Day members look fantastic outlasting four other teams including Daniel Byran and his henchman Rowan. This was a great match with some awesome moments including when the Usos forfeited in their part of the match out of respect for the New Day and Kingston which was a nice bit of continuity for the WWE after the Usos and New Day's iconic rivalry over the Smackdown tag titles. This was a feel-good victory for the New Day and it is great to see Kingston have got his match at Wrestlemania against the "New" Daniel Bryan, even though it would have been more powerful if he would have earned the match for himself in the gauntlet last week. Despite this though all this build will be worth it if Kingston overcomes Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania so WWE finally has an African-American WWE champion with a fully deserving Kofi Kingston.
